A landscape guaranteed to make a lasting impression

The historic rock salt mining area called “Salzkammergut” is a very special place with a long and rich tradition. Among those passionate about the Wolfgangsee lake was the famous poet and co-founder of the Salzburg Festival, Hugo von Hofmannsthal. He is said to have uttered: “My way back home led me along the pristine shores of Wolfgangsee. For me, in my heart, the lake and the landscape embracing it continue to be a spiritual experience – not a single tree, not a single bend along the way that would not make my humble heart beat a little bit faster.” Guests at Lindenstrand Campground can put together their own selection from the many attractions and experiences offered in the “Salzkammergut” region. The options for day trips are almost unlimited – pick your favourite leisure activity, depending on whether you’re looking for physical activity or would rather take it easy, are travelling with kids or are simply looking forward to enjoying the silence.

Bicycle tours, hiking, rock climbing

There is a beautiful bicycle track leading right along our campground. Simply follow the track and discover the many hidden treasures that, were you travelling in a car, you would probably have passed by without even noticing. Bicycles are available to rent from the reception desk. Or put on your hiking boots and explore our breathtaking region afoot. A number of exciting hiking tracks of different levels of difficulty start right in front of our campground. Sports enthusiasts will love diving from the impressive cliffs of the Wolfgangsee lake or taking in a bird’s eye view of the region while paragliding high up in the skies above the lake. Rock climbing enthusiasts may also try their skills in one of the many nearby via ferratas.

Out and about with children

Travelling with kids? An exciting child-friendly destination is the Zinkenbach track – a beautiful walk through blossoming meadows and shady little forests leading you all the way to Zinkenbach gorge. Along the way is the popular petting zoo, where our little animal lovers can make acquaintance with rabbits, ponies, donkeys, alpacas, mini pigs and many more interesting animals.

The “Abarena”: the leisure park between the lake and the mountains

Abarena leisure park is nestled between the mountains and the lake. It offers fun, rides and exciting times for children and can be enjoyed in all kinds of weather. There is a large indoor and outdoor area featuring a giant water slide, a water playground and an authentic wild west town. The indoor area, where the kids can race around in pedal cars or electric go-carts, is not only popular during bad weather. The bouncy castle and ball pool are always extremely popular with our little guests. Mums and dads are welcome to enjoy a freshly brewed cup of coffee or iced coffee in the gardens of our café.

Thermal baths, cultural attractions in town

Couples will find the perfect place for a relaxing day in the “Eurotherme” thermal baths in the town of Bad Ischl and the “Wellness-Alm” on the shores of Wolfgangsee. If you’re interested in art or culture, you’ll enjoy visiting the world-renowned historic city of Salzburg, which is only around 30 km away. The town of Bad Ischl, a former residence of the emperor, also has many worthwhile attractions and can be reached in just 15 minutes.
